…and German reunification, images of renowned photojournalist Helmut R. Schulze are on display untilNovember 2 at Völklingen Ironworks, Germany’s pig-iron-plant-turned World Heritage Site. It too celebrates an anniversary: founded in 1873 in the State of Saarland, bordering France, it received the prestigious UNESCO designation 20 years ago, recognizing its significance as an industrial heritage site. Enclosed expanses have since become entertainment and exhibition halls, and visitors can tour the plant from the burden shed up to the top of the blast furnaces with their panoramic views.
