Nicaragua’s newest airport is officially open and that means it’s even easier to get to the enchanting Ometepe Island in the middle of Lake Nicaragua. A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Ometepe is home to richly diverse habitats and wildlife, as well as incredible culture and history. Its two distinct volcanoes, Concepcion and Maderas, grace the skyline as you glide into the new Ometepe Airport from Managua – or hop on over via ferry as before. Either way, it’s worth the trip to Ometepe.
