Golfing – Lanai Island, Hawaii

I’ve never met a golfer who is completely happy with their game, no matter how low their handicap is. However, the fact that you’re not a Nicklaus or Norman may be assuaged by taking your game to one of Lanai Island’s two championship courses and any of its luxurious five-star hotels. A Greg Norman and Ted Robinson-designed course can be found at Koele, where there are vistas galore. Jack Nicklaus’s Manele golf course has its own natural hazards with towering trees.

For those who don’t want to pick up the clubs, there are many activities besides watching from the sidelines. The island was once the world’s most important exporter of pineapples under the leadership of James Dole. See the Pineapple King’s territory by driving the Munro Trail. Alternatively, head to the coast for a spot of dolphin watching.
